If it is too painful to consciously think on the traumatic event, when your mind goes ‘blank’ or your emotions ‘firefighting’ to protect you from re-experiencing and accessing the traumatic memory, this technique can help processing trauma in a way that does not require you to even think about the traumatic experience.
This a great technique if a client would be on risk of being re-traumatised when forced to consciously recall what has happened to them.
